The Prospects Cup will be a rematch of the Bauer Winter Championships final where HC Edmonton was victorious 4-3 in a game that saw three lead changes including twice in the 3rd period! The offensive stars of each team were shining as Ryan Quintilio and Charlie Pena traded a pair of goals each for 2 periods.
The season series was even closer than the Winter Championships final, splitting 2 games, both one-goal victories - Edmonton winning in a shoot-out early in the season, with Langley taking the latest matchup in January. Their playoff journeys have been different, however. HC Edmonton has played just 2 games after a bye in the first round and sweeping Calgary in the Alberta Championship, although they did trail in both games.
Langley went the distance in round one against Coquitlam HC and didn’t clinch a win until 13 seconds remaining in game 3. They revved things up in the B.C. championship, downing Okanagan HC in two games while scoring 12 goals. But goals could be at a premium in this series. Langley and Edmonton were 1-2 respectively in goals against in the regular season.
HCE goaltender Jameson Arcand was number one in goals against average, while Langley Hockey Academy’s Jonah Krayem was right behind him as well as tied for tops with wins.
