Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ty grew up in Southern California where he started playing hockey at the age of 7. He played the past several seasons with the Anaheim Jr Ducks, most recently a member of their 14U AAA team. As a dual citizen, Ty was one of eight 2007 born goalies from the western US to be invited to the Pacific District Camp, part of the US National Player Development Program. In August 2022, Ty moved with his family to Calgary. He aspires to play like Jeremy Swayman, John Gibson and Jake Oettinger and hopes to play Junior or NCAA hockey in the future.
