14U Northstars Hockey Academy
Game Three Win
After two tight games where each team won, the Northstars put away South Sask HC with a 6-3 victory in game three.
Lincoln Wiggle was key in the victories with four points in the wins, including a three-point effort in the decisive win.
Game three was back and forth with South Sask leading at one point before the Northstars stormed in front for good with three unanswered goals.
Northstars Hockey Academy will now face HC Edmonton in the Prairies conference final.
15U Langley HA
Lock It Down
Langley Hockey Academy were ultra-stingy against Okanagan in round one. Giving up just a single goal in two games, earning the sweep.
Mason Guiel made 27 saves for the 5-0 shutout in game two, where Langley fired 73 shots on Okanagan goaltender Sanjay Basdeo.
Matias Nord was a force with five points in two games, with a three-assist effort in the clincher.
Langley will take on Island HC in the Pacific conference final.
17U Calgary Rockies
Timely Scoring
The Rockies drew first blood on Friday, lost on Saturday and were trailing late in the game Sunday before Lincoln Schultz hammered home a one-time pass with the goalie pulled. The goal came with just 28 seconds remaining, and the Rockies won the series in a shootout after overtime didn’t produce a winner.
Goaltender Kyler Olson was brilliant in the win, facing 43 HC Edmonton shots and posting a .950 save percentage.
Matthew Morrow had a pair of helpers in the decisive win for the Rockies. The Red Deer product has been a point-per-game player in the postseason.
Calgary will take on the Titans Hockey Union in round two.
18U Coquitlam HC
Fire It Up
The opening game of round one didn’t start great for Coquitlam, but four unanswered goals put them in the driver's seat versus Island HC. Jahuen Kim notched a pair of goals in the Coquitlam win, giving the Seoul, South Korea product five in the postseason.
This is after three hattricks in seven games during the regular season for Coquitlam’s late addition to the lineup.
In game two, it was Coquitlam building a lead early and not relenting as they doubled up Okanagan 4-2 in tidy fashion.
Coquitlam reaches the final and will take on Langley in the Pacific division championship.
