Edmonton, AB — [December 18, 2025] — The Junior Prospects Hockey League (JPHL) is proud to announce a new working relationship with Play Hockey, one of the world’s premier organizers of elite-level hockey tournaments and experiences. Together, this partnership introduces the JPHL Selects program — an exclusive, recurring/annual opportunity that will showcase top-performing athletes from across the league on an international stage.
The JPHL Selects program will represent the league’s best through a series of all-star style teams formed from varying age groups and divisions. These teams will compete at sought-after, invitation-only tournaments that deliver world-class development, exposure, and competition.
For the inaugural 2026 season, JPHL Selects teams will participate in the following marquee events operated by Play Hockey:
- HHOF – FL Series
May 21–24, 2026 | 2013 Elite Male | Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
- Hockey Hall of Fame World Championship
June 19–22, 2026 | 2012 Elite Male | Niagara Falls, Ontario
- International Cup
April 23–26, 2026 | 2011 AAA Male | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
“These events are some of the most respected tournaments in youth hockey, and we are thrilled to have our athletes represent the JPHL on this stage,” said Richard Nault, Commissioner of the JPHL. “The JPHL Selects program reinforces our commitment to providing elite, meaningful, and memorable opportunities that help players grow both on and off the ice.”
Player selection will be conducted by a program committee that represents coaches, league executives and scouts from the JPHL network. Player and Coach selections will be by invite-only. “The most difficult and sensitive aspect of the program is player and coach selections. We believe in our athletes and the quality of our league, therefore many athletes and coaches are deserving of these opportunities however the space is limited. The JPHL Selects program is an annual program and as a result, while some athletes and coaches may not get selected in their first year, they will have other opportunities in the years to follow to possibly be selected. That said, these are special experiences and we are excited to roll this out and share it with our league” commented Richard Nault. Further information regarding player selection, team composition, and coaching appointments will be released in the coming weeks.
This new partnership underscores the JPHL’s continued evolution and its dedication to developing modern, progressive pathways for aspiring athletes within the global hockey community.
