In a spirited Junior Prospects Hockey League matchup, the Coquitlam HC secured a hard-earned 4-2 road win over Lethbridge United. The game began with a bang as Lethbridge's Toews Heggedal opened the scoring just over three minutes into the first period, giving the home team an early lead. However, Coquitlam responded quickly on the power play when Dexter Jung capitalized with assists from Brady Desharnais and Brennan Peppler, tying the game before the first intermission. The opening frame was marred by a misconduct penalty to Coquitlam's Charlie Pena, setting a physical tone for the remainder of the contest.
The second period proved decisive as Coquitlam seized control with two quick goals. Xander Dibble put the visitors ahead early in the period, and just past the midway mark, Blake Miller netted what would stand as the game-winner with help from Linden Hart and Christiano D'Addabbo. Lethbridge showed signs of life when Dalton Friesen answered just 42 seconds later to pull within one, but the damage was done. Both teams exchanged penalties throughout the period, with Lethbridge's Hudson Gauld and Kashton Gillis and Coquitlam's Mateo Nicolato and Dominic Allegretto all spending time in the box as tensions ran high.
Despite outshooting Coquitlam 41-28 overall, Lethbridge couldn't solve Coquitlam goaltender Rhys Penninga after the second period. The physical play continued into the third with charging and roughing minors assessed to Coquitlam's Colby Monette and Lethbridge's Delphin De Boer, alongside another roughing call to Coquitlam's Brennan Peppler as time expired. Monette would have the final say, however, sealing the victory with an empty-net goal in the final minute, assisted by Brady Desharnais for his second helper of the night. Penninga's perfect performance in net proved the difference as Coquitlam weathered Lethbridge's offensive pressure to claim the important two points.
